General FAQs About Our Boards

How Do You Control The Board?
The board acceleration is controlled by a wireless remote. To turn you use your body weight as you would a normal longboard skateboard.
How Do I Brake/Stop The Board?

To slow down you push the trigger forward on the handheld remote. The brake is firm when applied at medium to fast speeds and is very safe. The braking is softer at slow speeds and may not bring you to a complete halt. It has been designed to be as safe as possible.

How Fast Does It Go?

This varies depending on the rider weight, terrain and slope. On a good flat road/footpath the bamboo series and carbon street board can reach speeds of 35-38kms per hour. However the boards are not about speed more-so about carving and cruising.

Can I Ride The Board Up Hills?

Yes. The boards can handle small to medium inclines no problems. Again it depends on rider weight, terrain and how steep the hill is. It’s best to approach hills with some momentum for an easier climb. Constant hill riding is not advised as it puts strain on the motor.

How Long Does The Battery Last? How Long Does It Take To Recharge?

Bamboo street - up to 30km and 80mins recharge time

Bamboo AT - Up to 15km and 80mins recharge time

Carbon street - Up to 40km and 120mins recharge time

Carbon AT - Up to 30km and 120mins recharge time

These specs are tested on fairly flat ground with a few small inclines. Battery life depends on factors such as weight of rider, terrain, inclines and also the way the rider uses the trigger. On the AT boards, battery range can vary if PSI levels get below 40PSI.

How Many Recharges Can I Get Out Of My Battery?

Approximately 1000 full recharges.

What Wheels Can I Use On My Evolve Street Board?
We have THREE drive gears compatible with our bamboo series and carbon street boards that can be used with a variety of top shelf wheels. We'll be making more gears that are compatible with other wheels in the future but at this stage you can use the wheels below. 1. The Kegel Gear: Orangatan Kegel Wheels 80mm 80a (our wheel of choice) 2. The ABEC 11 Gear: Abec 11 83mm Flywheels Abec 11 76mm Flywheels 3. The Compatible Drive Gear: Evolve 77mm wheels Bustin Swift 77mm wheels Metro Express 77mm wheels Sector 9 81mm Race Formula wheels Sector 9 76mm Race Formula wheels The board come standard with the Kegel gear and the other two gears and selected wheels are available for purchase as optional accessories.

Is The Board Waterproof?
No, water damage will immediately void the board warranty. If you had to ride through surface water on roads/footpaths you should immediately dry the board off to avoid corrosion damage. Carving on wet surfaces may also make the board slide out from under your feet, so be careful of this.

How Do I Maintain My Board?
Maintaining your Evolve board is very simple. None of the electrical or mechanical parts need to be serviced. Just routinely checking that screws and nuts are tight, bearings are clean and rolling freely, rotating your wheels and keeping your board clean. See our maintenance section.

Can I Do Tricks On My Board?
You can slide on the board but take care that you don’t abuse the board in a way that will void your warranty. Please refer to our Store Policies page for more info.

What IS the Maximum Weight The Board Can Carry?
The limit we suggest is 100kgs. Over this weight and the board will loose some torque only noticeable on hills.

If I Ride With A Friend Who Also Has An Evolve Board, Will The Remotes Interfere With Each Other?
If the carbon boards ride very closely (within 1 meter) next to the bamboo boards its possible that you will loose signal for a split second. However riding Carbons together or the Bamboos together will never cause an interference between boards. The remote can only control 1 board at a time whilst riding.

Can I Kick Push Home If My Board Runs Out Of Battery?
Yes, the board has little resistance which enables it to roll when the power is off. This is a unique feature of our range of boards.

How Often Will I Need To Replace The Drive Belt?
We use the highest quality drive belts available on the market (Gates, made in UK), they are very quiet and durable. The belts should last a very long time and generally become better with age. If ever the belt does break due to wear and tear, replacing it takes a few minutes and they are available on our website.

How Loud Is The Evolve Board?
Our boards are extremely quiet to ride.

What Are The 2-in-1 Models?
Our boards can be converted from the Street version to the AT version and vice versa. Getting the 2-in-1 version means we will also give you the parts needed so you can swap between each setup quickly and easily so you can get the best of both worlds. <iframe src="https://player.vimeo.com/video/74278024?title=0&byline=0&portrait=0" width="500" height="281" frameborder="0" webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen allowfullscreen></iframe>

Outside of Malaysia and Singapore
Due to airline restrictions on shipping equipment with Lithium batteries, all orders to countries like Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, the Philippines…etc. require an IATA DG certification BEFORE they can be shipped by air courier. Orders need to be manually processed and the cost is US$280 to US$320 to ship by courier. It will take about 1 week for the declaration process to complete and another 2-4 work days for DHL to deliver to your address. Please contact us to place your international order. FAQs About The New GTR Series

Can I use the GTR battery (standard and travel) and Bluetooth motor controller on my Carbon or bamboo GT board?

Sorry but the GTR electrical components are a different shape and size and cannot fit our earlier board designs.

What’s the difference between the GT series boards and the GTR series boards?

The GTR series boards is like the GT but on steroids! The GT skateboards were designed back in 2014, the GTR is the 2019 model.  Every part of the GTR board has been improved from build quality/strength, raw materials, electrical components, software and ride quality.  The GTR uses Bluetooth technology along with new patent pending battery technology which delivers an extremely smooth power delivery performance and is exhilarating to ride!

Will the new Bluetooth remote work with my old GT series board?

No.  The R2 Bluetooth remote can only communicate with the GTR Bluetooth motor controllers.  The GT boards use Wifi communication when operating, the GTR uses Bluetooth communication when operating.  If these remotes are swapped then the remote cannot pair to the motor controller.

Can I use the GTR motor on my GT board and visa versa?

No.  The GTR motors have custom water proof connectors and can only connect to the GTR Bluetooth motor controllers, they will not assemble to the GT motor controllers.

Can I take my GTR battery on a plane?

The standard 14AH GTR battery cannot be taken onto any plane due to being too large.  However, the 4.2AH travel battery (151.2 watt hours) can be taken onto a plane with airline approval prior to boarding.  The travel battery can only be stored in carry-on luggage, carry a maximum of 2 pieces per person and you must notify the airline during check-in (or in advance) that you have spare batteries in your possession.  Our travel battery is 151.2 watt hours in size and this fits within the 100 – 160 watt hours range.

Will my old battery charger work on my GTR series skateboard?

No.  The GTR charging port is shaped like the letter D making it impossible to use any previous Evolve charger.  The GTR charger cannot fit any older Evolve board due to being a D shaped connector.  The reason we changed the connector shape is to prevent people using non evolve chargers or older chargers that can potentially damage the new power flex battery.

Is my carbon or bamboo GTR series board waterproof?

No, the GTR board is not water proof.  Having said that, the new GTR boards are far superior to all previous generation boards as we have made every effort to seal up the electrical enclosures to prevent water getting in in the event of being caught out in the rain when riding. Riding in wet conditions is still very dangerous due to slippery surfaces and can put stress on the wheel bearings and motors, not to mention you get wet and dirty when riding.

Will the Evolve app work with my GT board?

Anyone can use the Explore by Evolve app, however the over the air update features and the customise dial will only work on the GTR series boards due to Bluetooth connectivity.

How long will my battery last before it needs replacing?

Samsung 35e cells have an expected capacity drop of 40% after around 500 cycles

Can I use my Carbon GTR battery on my Bamboo GTR board and vise versa?

No, each battery uses different connectors to assemble to the motor controller and they cannot fit between each other.

Why is more GTR board losing top speed during my rides?

The GTR board will be its fastest when the battery has full charge.  As you use the skateboard the battery is losing power which results in a reduction in top speed during the ride.  Top speed will slowly reduce as the battery loses power.

Why is my GTR Skateboard going into heat protection?

Heat protection will be activated when the motors or battery are extremely hot.  Different riding styles can effect heat in different ways.  For example, if riding on grass with consistent speed changes, for the board to have enough power to move the rider it must use maximum current which in turn heats up the motors very quickly which may cause the board to go into heat protection mode.  If the rider mostly rides fast speeds on hard surfaces with small amounts of grass and hills for longer periods of time then the entire electric system heats up more evenly and will most likely not reach the heat protection modes.  The motors do cool down very quickly by riding efficiently (holding a speed on hard surfaces) or letting it rest for a few minutes.  The heat protection is necessary to protect the board from being over worked.
